Realtek 8169 NIC
(too old to reply)

I have replaced my 100mb NIC with a TP-LINK gigabit NIC [Realtek 8169]. I
am using drivers for it that work fine in 100mb mode but I cannot get it to
operate at the 1Gbit speed.

The NIC is connected to a 8 port 1gigabit switch which indicates only a
100mbit connection.

The driver I am using is rtgnda12[.zip] and dated 12/2006 so there not too
old. I also tried the GemMac stuff, but I could not get is to work at all.

Anyone with some ideas please??

Is everything else on the switch connecting at 1000?

Yes. Three WinXP boxes connect via the switch @ 1gb no problem.

Are the WinXP boxes transferring between themselves at 1 gb and at 100
mb when transferring to the OS/2 box?

When you tried GENMAC, is the GENMAC driver (RTNIC.SYS) the same as the
one on WinXP?

The WinXP boxes all connect and talk between them selves at 1gb no
problem. Not so the OS2BOX which remains at 100mb

Never really looked into that far. I have 3 NIC's and GENMAC seems to get
confused with that setup.

I have tried using the know good CAT5 leads on the OS2BOX, but it remains
at 100mb.

I have noticed that the card only switches to 1gb once the driver [winxp]
has initialized the card. In other words at power on the card default to
100mb until it told to switch to 1gb.
